Qasr Khalifa: Qasr Khalifa is located approximately 3 kilometers south of the town of Al-Shuyukh, and about 700 meters east of the site of Khirbet Ras al-Tawil (one of the settlements dating back to the Iron Age II and classical periods).

Location and Size According to British mapping records, the site covers حوالي eight dunams, making it a relatively large archaeological landmark. The location enjoys panoramic views in all directions and is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, offering a wide scenic landscape stretching as far as the eye can see.

Historical Documentation The site was first recorded in the Survey of Western Palestine (1870–1877) as a ruined tower. In later surveys conducted in 1936, it appeared under the name “Qasr Khalifa.”

Archaeological Excavations Excavations carried out in 1996 by the Department of Antiquities in the West Bank under the supervision of Abdul Aziz Rajoub revealed the nature of the site and its main components, showing evidence of human settlement dating back to the Roman and Byzantine periods.

Architectural Features The excavations uncovered a fortified square palace with an area of 64 square meters, accompanied by an external courtyard measuring 30 × 30 meters. An additional structure with a main entrance (gate) was also attached to the palace.
